Righting Wrongs With Experienced, Effective Legal Representation
I am one of few medical malpractice attorneys with the resources and experience to accept complex medical malpractice cases. I also provide representation in personal injury, estate planning advocacy, probate representation and business litigation services. Most of my cases are referrals from other attorneys or clients for whom my team and I have achieved favorable results.

Medical Negligence Laws In Tennessee Are Complex
I am a medical malpractice attorney who has been practicing law for more than four decades. During this time, I have helped – and will continue to help – my clients obtain compensation so they can get on with their lives the best way possible after a physician’s error. In addition, because medical malpractice is such a complicated area of law, I have shared my knowledge with other attorneys along the way during several medical malpractice seminars on this topic.
Medical negligence laws in Tennessee are subject to legislative revisions, case law updates and strict time limits for filing. The statute of limitations for med mal claims is one year from the date of your injury, but there are exceptions that could apply. I can help you understand whether you have a legitimate injury claim and your legal options for pursuing damages to pay for your medical bills, lost and future wages and other monetary compensation.
Pursuing justice following health care provider errors takes time. This is why I do not accept every caller’s medical malpractice case: I want to devote the amount of time, energy and resources that each client needs for a successful outcome of their injury claim.
Planning, Estate Administration, Probate Litigation Services
I help my clients with drafting wills, and probate litigation, as well as probate and estate administration. Sometimes, people only realize after a life-altering injury or following the death of a loved one how important having a will is to their own – and their family’s – peace of mind. I can help you update or create your will to help you avoid the frustration of contested estate administration or probate litigation. If you and your family are already engaging in disputes about a loved one’s estate, let’s discuss your legal options.
I also assist clients with situations where an insurance company is refusing to provide their paid for ERISA disability benefits. Insurance companies are quick to minimize their insured’s level of need and frequently dispute claims. With an experienced ERISA lawyer at your side, their tune frequently changes.
When Negotiation Does Not Solve Your Dispute, Litigation May Be Necessary
In a perfect world, you would be able to solve all of your business-related disputes through careful negotiation. With more than 40 years of legal experience, I know when negotiation fails, litigation can be the most efficient way to produce the best results possible for the lifecycle of your business.
At Ira Long & Associates, PLLC, I – along with my legal assistants of 42 years, Brenda Walters, and Linda Bennett – prioritize establishing personal relationships with clients. When you think you have a wrong to right, contact my office at 423-405-7546 for a free consultation.
Fourth Generation Chattanoogan
For better or worse, I come from a family of lawyers and doctors. I have a deep understanding of how to achieve results for my clients with their medical malpractice claims, ERISA long-term insurance matters, estate planning, probate and business litigation.
I enjoy working closely with individuals. In my practice, every day is different because every case is different. Clients are distinctive. The facts of each case are unique, and this is especially significant given that laws are constantly evolving.
